The science behind Biome

Every formula is clinically dosed, third-party tested, and backed by peer-reviewed evidence. No proprietary blends, no guesswork — just what works, at the dose that works.

How liposomal delivery works, step by step

  1. Phospholipids self-assemble

Liposomes start from phospholipids — the same amphiphilic molecules that build your cell membranes. Each has a water-loving head and water-fearing tails, so in water they spontaneously line up into a bilayer and close into a tiny sphere. No scaffolding is needed; the shell forms on its own because it is the lowest-energy shape.

  2. The nutrient is sealed inside

As the vesicle closes it captures its cargo: water-soluble nutrients like vitamin C sit in the watery core, while fat-soluble actives like curcumin or CoQ10 tuck into the bilayer itself. The share actually enclosed — the encapsulation efficiency — is set by the phospholipid-to-cholesterol ratio and the process used.

  3. Sized and quality-checked

Energy from sonication, extrusion or microfluidics shrinks the vesicles toward a uniform 100–200 nm. Smaller, more consistent liposomes are more stable and better absorbed, and a tuned surface charge (zeta potential) stops them clumping. Tight, repeatable size is the mark of a well-controlled process.

  4. Protected through digestion

Because the shell mirrors the body’s own membranes, it is treated as familiar material. The bilayer shields the payload from stomach acid and digestive enzymes and releases it gradually rather than all at once, so more of the dose survives intact on its way through the gut.

  5. Absorbed and put to use

At the intestinal wall the phospholipids are hydrolysed and form mixed micelles with bile salts that promote uptake, and some cargo routes through the lymphatic system, partly bypassing first-pass metabolism. The result: more of what you take actually reaches your bloodstream in active form.

Science & testing questions

How do you decide what dose to use?

We dose actives at the levels shown effective in human clinical trials, then publish those doses openly on every label.

What does third-party testing cover?

Independent labs verify identity, potency, and screen for heavy metals, microbes, and other contaminants on every production batch.

Can I see the evidence behind a product?

Yes. Each formula links to the research it's based on, and certificates of analysis are available on request.

What does 'no proprietary blends' mean?

Some brands hide doses inside a blend total. We list every ingredient and its exact amount, so you know precisely what you're getting.
